Your hands are one of the first indicators of your age—and often one of the most neglected.
When thinking about aging, most people protect and care for their faces through sun protection and anti-aging regimes, while neglecting the delicate skin on their hands. This oft-abused body part is exposed to environmental stressors and irritants on a daily basis, and over time, will tell a story of neglect in the form of age spots, veins and thinning skin. There are two strategies to return your hands to a youthful state focusing on skin clearing or skin plumping, and when combined, provide often dramatic results.
1) Pigmentation (sun damage, sun spots, age spots, freckles, photodamage)
Hands are particularly vulnerable to the damaging effects of UVA rays (known as the aging ray). Damage occurs in the form of discoloration, usually brown in colour, that may appear as small spots or cover larger areas; marring the clarity and evenness of skin. Colour inconsistencies occur with aging, but are also a sign of premature aging (photoaging) due to lifestyle and unprotected sun exposure.

2) Aging (volume loss, crepiness, thinning skin)
As we age, there is a decline in collagen which gives skin it’s plump, healthy appearance; and elastin which allows skin to “spring” back. We begin to lose fat in our hands; creating a skeletal appearance with prominent veins and crepey skin.
