Micro-needling uses tiny sterile needles to safely and create precise mini-injuries to the skin under controlled-depth, triggering the body to heal by building new collagen. It improves the skin’s texture, fine lines, and pores, reduces uneven pigmentation and treats scars and stretch marks. The benefits of repeated collagen stimulation with micro-needling therapy will thicken your skin layers, achieving the effect of softening of fine lines and wrinkles. At EverYoung, our medical experts ensure a highly-effective treatment with little to no discomfort experience. Micro-needling collagen stimulation can be performed on all parts of the body where fine lines, skin textures and tone is a concern.
MICRONEEDLING TREATMENTS AT A GLANCE
What is micro-needling best at treating?
A significant reduction in through collagen stimulation:
- Acne Scarring
- Uneven Pigmentation
- Scars and Stretch Marks
- Fine lines
- Skin Laxity
HOW MANY MICRO-NEEDLING TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED AND WHEN DO YOU START TO SEE BENEFITS?
Typically, a series of 3–5 treatments is highly recommended for optimal results. However, each treatment will continue to induce some collagen remodeling and subsequent micro-needling treatment can be used for ongoing maintenance.
HOW DO I LOOK LIKE RIGHT AFTER TREATMENT AND WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?
Immediately after a micro-needling treatment, the skin may appear flushed, like a light sunburn to deeper pink with pinpoint bleeding for deeper treatments. Commonly, redness will resolve within 1–2 days. Make-up can be applied immediately.
HOW IS MICRO-NEEDLING DIFFERENT FROM LASERS?
Unlike lasers, micro-needling breaks up the pigment mechanically and remodels the collagen without heat. Removing heat means providing a safer, more comfortable treatment with a very low complication possibility
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
Mild discomfort and redness are common effects. Very rarely, treatments could lead to a cold sore reactivation or other infection, a formation of granulomas (small bumps under the skin), permanent color change or scarring.
ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS TO HAVING THE TREATMENT DONE?
You should not have micro-needling if you have vitiligo, an active skin infection (such as flat warts or a cold sore), or have taken isotretinoin within the past 6 months. Please notify your provider if you are prone to excessive/keloid scarring or have a collagen vascular disease such as lupus.
What is the aftercare?
Ice packs or cool compresses can be used to soothe the skin. Practice good sun protection and avoid abrasive topicals or treatments for 2–3 days.
